CRANK IT FORWARD.

 RANS “FUSION” BIKES

For the last 2 years, Rans has had a new bike in the lineup called Fusion that fuses some elements of an upright bike with some of the recumbent.  The result is an easy to ride, laid back frame geometry that relieves hand and wrist pressure, and allows flat footed starts and stops.

DYNAMIK

With a slightly steeper seat angle the Dynamik is stand and pedal capable.  The reach is longer with a slight increase on wrist pressure, but well within the comfort zone for sensitive palms. Seated climbs are still very effective and stand climbs are only needed on very steep grades (See: Why They Climb So well!) A great bike on mild trails, beaches, and general short  haul rides where high traction wide tires are suited.

The custom RANS poly spade seat is the outcome of such body position design. Standard with a high density closed cell foam seat cover (removes for washing).

Seat position adjusts in tilt and height with quick release levers for fast set up and the perfect fit. Built on a top notch, hand crafted 4130 cro-moly frame.

Like all the relaxed geometry bikes, the DYNAMIK has impressive climb and cruise speeds. To climb, simply pull on the bars! (See: Why They Climb So Well!)

This bike was very impressive in a desert single track setting. The seat  position maintains outstanding climbing traction while in the saddle and the front end maintains line. The only thing we’d do if you’re spending a lot of dirt time is to add a suspension fork option.

WHY THEY CLIMB SO WELL.

Almost everyone who tries a Fusion, Cruz, Dynamik, or Zenetik, makes a comment about the great climb. What is it about these bikes that enhances climb? The explanation lies in handlebar and crank placement. With the crank forward more than a conventional bike and the bars placed low, just above the knees, you can pull yourself down into the pedals. Using this technique it is easy to apply more than your weight to the pedals, which is all standing on the pedals will provide. If you move the crank further aft, or raise the handlebar too high, the effect is diminished, if not lost. The handlebars must be fairly low, approximately above the knees in order to affect the climbing traction. Climbing is not the only place the effect works, starting from a complete stop, using the bars to dig in, will accelerate the bike nicely. When you test ride a RANS crank forward design, remember to try the trick of pulling on the bars to climb or accelerate, be sure the bars are adjusted to the right height of just above the knees and they are secure!

Our mission is to provide you with your "dream bike" so don't hesitate to call with how you'd like your bike configured.
